No Chain Mail Please!

NO CHAIN MAIL PLEASE!

For those who believe
in the power of a chain letter,
who forward a missive
to make their lives better --

Though you say, “No harm in trying;
I have nothing to lose”,
those letters are lying.
Your faith, they do abuse.

What can one gain
from promises untrue?
They make you hope in vain,
and make a sucker of you.

You might think they’re for real,
‘cause your wish came to fruition.
Well, I’ll tell you the real deal:
that’s called “self-actualisation”!

What’s more, I take offence
when they try to instil fear.
They’ve no right to make me tense,
or threaten those that I hold dear.

Chain letters are a waste
of everybody’s energy and time.
Which is why I made haste
and composed this silly rhyme.

Though I’m a poor poet
(I’m sure that is clear),
I just want all to know it:
Send no chain letters here!

So please, leave me alone!
Spare me those letters’ threatening tone.
If not, I want to make known
I’ll send more rhymes to make YOU groan!

P.S.
Chain letters are a ruse.
Your fate is what you choose!
