Don't stop thinking

That was exactly what I told my mother yesterday.

---

A note to all of us:

Don't stop thinking. Think about improving yourself.

And stop wasting time on trivial pursuits. Do you really think that would lead you to happiness? Or are you a (ir)rational consumer who has been sucked into this economy?

Please, for your own sake, think, and then act as you see fit.

I don't think what I was doing will bring me much happiness, especially in the long run.

---

90% of the people will, upon reading this entry, think for a while, and then go elsewhere to have fun. They will continue to lead misguided lives, living only for transient acts of satisfaction, only finding (dis)satisfaction near death. They simply don't put what they learn into action; neither do they possess a thirst for knowledge and improvement.

(The operator between points in the above paragraph would be an OR.)

Please be in the 10%. Make the world a better place.

values are arbitrary

That boils down to you knowing your purpose in life.

Someone who has a clear purpose will know what to do to make the quality of "living" more enriching and meaningful. Otherwise, each day will just be another day of living and just pass through the system that society has "set up" for you.

I absolutely agree with you. One must remain open to continuous learning and respond with awe and wonderment (Attitudes that keep an open and enthusiastic mind to appreciate and learn new things, seeking constant improvement)and manage impulsivity (Act strategically after thinking through). These are just three of the Habits of mind that we should cultivate into our character. By the way there are 16 Habits of mind highlighted so far. If keen, you can do a websearch on it.

I really feel that as a nation, we are really not "thinking" enough or probably not knowing even how to think powerfully. Just wondering how the future generation who don't embrace thinking can help S'pore survive the strong competition out there with the big countries. We are not even fit to compete with a city in China in the near future, looking at their rate of modernisation. Perhaps one day, we will all go back to "MOTHERland" to seek for a job instead.

Yes, you're right.

You're so right.

I have so much to do myself!
